Commercial Driver's License Traffic Ticket
All CDL holders need to know they face harsh consequences if they have tickets on their record – even if the tickets were obtained while driving their personal vehicle. If you receive 2 or more “serious” traffic offenses from separate incidents within a 3 year period, your CDL will be suspended for 60 days. If you get a third, you will be suspended for 120 days!
Obviously, this can result in a lost job. It is important to fight every single ticket you get. Even if you haven’t had one previously for years, you cannot guarantee you won’t get another one in the near future. Plus, some types of tickets and some courts are more difficult than others. It would be extremely frustrating to not fight the first ticket that was very easy but then try to fight the second ticket that ended up being very difficult.
The State’s definition of “serious” traffic offenses includes, but is not limited to:
- Speeding 15mph+ over the limit
- Following too closely
- Failing to stop (stop sign & red light tickets)
- Failing to yield the right of way
- Driving too fast for conditions
- Improper lane change and travel (i.e. not signaling or cutting someone off)
- Improper passing
These are just a few of the types of violations that will impact your CDL. As you can see, some of these are very easy to get. Call now to speak with one of our experienced commercial driver's license lawyers if you get your first ticket. We will fight to keep your record clear.
